January is "Learn to Ski Month" and Snow Summit is offering FREE rentals throughout the month of January, except Martin Luther King Holidays on 15th & 16th, to first time beginners ages 8 and older who purchase a beginner lesson package. With FREE Rentals you now have more room to pack up your friends and come skiing and snowboarding! Lesson packages begin at $59. Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are the place where Southern Californians learn to ski and ride snowboards. You must make your lesson reservations online.

HALF DAY GETAWAY

The Half-Day Getaway program lets you ski or snowboard all morning and leave in time to be home by early afternoon with some real savings! You can get a credit voucher for up to $19 if you turn in your All-Day lift ticket by 1:00 p.m. at any open ticket window; the amount of your voucher varies based on the ticket price. The voucher is good toward the purchase of another Area Use lift ticket good for one year to date.

MILITARY DISCOUNT LIFT TICKETS

Law Enforcement, EMS, Firefighters & Active Military, Bear Mountain and Snow Summit would like to invite you to take advantage of Honor Our Heroes Days on the following dates: February 2 & 3, 2011; March 9 & 10, 2011; April 6 & 7, 2011. This special offer is to show our appreciation and support for your hard work. Take your valid work identification to any Bear Mountain or Snow Summit ticket window and you will receive a $38.00 Area Use Lift Ticket. Up to an $18 savings! You can also get specially priced lift tickets all season long but must be purchased in advance and can only be obtained at participating MWR/ITT offices. We are located close to anywhere in Southern California, two hours from the Los Angeles area and three hours from San Diego. A single tank of gas will get you here and home, and allow you to experience a unique alpine getaway in just one day. CURRENT ROAD CONDITIONS IN BIG BEAR

Hwy 330 / 18 (Running Springs) - Closed below Running Springs until further notice. There is a detour through Lake Arrowhead to the Arctic Circle for passenger vehicles only, CHAINS REQUIRED on all vehicles except 4WD and AWD vehicles with snow tires and expect delays. This route is much longer and not recommended. We recommend using alternate routes Hwy 38 thru Redlands or Hwy 18 thru Lucerne Valley.
